European community for mobility management

Recently I came across a (electrical) bicycle rental scheme. It’s now available in the city of Middelburg, Eindhoven and Kortrijk. This innovative system from the firm Calllock was developed in the Smartest Region of the World 2011, Brainport Eindhoven.

What is so innovative about it?

It’s fully modular and flexible and this prevents clients having to take large financial risks. It’s smart, cheap and has a high cost efficiency. That proves to be very useful, especially today in times of crisis. Very competitive compared to the huge expensive systems installed in e.g. Barcelona, London, Paris, etc.

Calllock’s system can be cheaper because it doesn’t need a terminal and it requests simple infrastructural investments and therefore light license procedures.

It even supports the local economy due to the possibility of partly tailor-made local products and services.

Modularity and flexibility gives the system the potential to grow from little to big, innovate from simple to modern communication with a back office and from parking a bicycle into parking and charging an electrical bicycle.

I think it’s one of the best and most innovative, well-designed systems currently available.
