Trendy Travel, a project aiming to make sustainable travel more emotionally appealing, has organised a Story telling competition in three of the partner countries, Ireland, The Netherlands and Austria. The Austrian Literature Award organised by FGM-AMOR, titled: “ Soft mobility: as path into the future”, has come to a successful end.
Unlike in the Netherlands, where the competition was open to all users of the National Railway (NS) the Austrian approach involved an announcement of the competition in Austrian, German and Swiss literature houses, literature magazines and relevant newspapers. Professional authors and hobby writers alike were invited to contribute stories intended to create positive associations and emotions with regard to “Soft Mobility” as well as to raise awareness and motivate people to change their travel behaviour. The famous writer Andreas Altman (www.andreas-altman.com) had already contributed a story for this initiative as an anchor. Out of 345 received stories a jury of 3 professionals (one University lecturer on literature, one author and one transport expert) has selected the winners. The winning stories are published on the Trendy Travel website: www.trendy-travel.eu
We are happy to announce that taken together the Story telling competitions in Austria, Ireland and the Netherlands have produced a total of 519 emotional stories with a focus on soft mobility. Some of the best stories form the Austrian Literature award will also be published, in an edition of 12.000 copies, in a small book and distributed to all holders of a season ticket in the wider area of Graz.
