Hundreds fewer cyclist deaths due to new "bicycle airbag"

An international consortium is developing a new "bicycle airbag" that could save hundreds of lives of cyclists across the EU. The new device could be introduced to the market as of 2015, ECF learnt on 29 March, 2010, during the presentation of the final crash test. This test was carried out at TNO, a Dutch automotive research institute based in Helmond, in the presence of the Dutch Cyclists' Union (Fietsersbond) and the Dutch Minister of Transport, Camiel Eurlings.
