train, wifi, information, connection
The Dutch Railroads launched their first trains with a free WiFi internet-connection. At the end of march 2010 the first intercity left Amsterdam Bijlmer station with a free WiFi-connection.
Through a wireless network (Wi-Fi), passengers can take advantage of a free internet-connection. According to the Dutch Railways the target is to have 1 out of 3 intercity trains, good for 150.000 seats, with the service ready by the end of the year.
The Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (VenW) would invest 15 million euro to offer this service for free for at least 3 years. Travelers can take advantage of the free connection and tv-screens will show them the trip-information. If everything goes according to plan, all trains will have an internet connection by 2013.
