Recently a system for cyclists to arrive at green traffic light has been developed. Green LED lamps in the paving make a green wave that guides cyclists. Cyclists who are in the green way will be able to avoid the red light. The Danish cities Odense and Copenhagen have already installed such running light. In the autumn of 2007 the project was initiated in Amsterdam.
Next summer one of the traffic lights in Rotterdam might be provided with the system, called Evergreen. Whether the project will continue is still uncertain. Formal administrative decision must be taking first, furthermore the system have to fulfill all technical requirements.
