Sustainable electric mobility without borders

Three service providers of electric mobility have shown their European leadership on public charging places beyond country borders. Their transnational 'e-roaming' network connects Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany.

Many studies show that electric cars will launch an important revolution: 20% of the car park will be electric in 2020. An important challenge is to expand the actual mobility range of an electric car to an average of 150 km.

The Belgian firm Blue Corner has signed a cooperation agreement with the foundation E-Laad in The Netherlands (1,000 charging stations) and the cooperative organisation Stadtwerken Ladenetz in Germany (500 charging stations). This cooperation will allow customers to extend their mobility radius considerably without encountering charging problems.

Customers of one of the three service providers will be able to charge with one unique charging card at all available charging stations, located at easily accessible public places in the three countries concerned. Identification by this card allows access to the plug connection. Charging will take place under the proper contract conditions, without any roaming costs.

This simple and customer-friendly approach is a European first and a significant step towards a real European network.
