FixMyTransport.com was built to help people get common public transport problems resolved. It is targeted specifically at smaller problems such as persistently broken ticket machines, buses that always leave early, or silly rules that appear to do nothing but create inconvenience for travellers.
At a basic level, FixMyTransport makes it easy for people to send problem reports to the companies or authorities responsible for those problems. Since launch at the end of August 2011, they've sent over 1,000 of the reported transport problems to operators, also publishing them online so that others can comment and add their support. They've successfully campaigned for seating at a bus stop in Horsehay, helped get longer trains on the Birmingham to Hereford route, and seen over 200 people add their name to the campaign for cycle parking at Cambridge station. We've also uncovered major issues such as accessibility to the transport facilities for those with limited mobility, overcrowding on buses and trains, and the state of station loos. At the same time they've encouraged passengers to send a little praise where it's due.
