Electric Mobility Cities ("Città a mobilità Elettrica") is a pilot project that aims to demonstrate that the clean and sustainable mobility concept is applicable in our cities. It provides Municipalities with two innovative electric vehicles and a recharging station.

The most recent ECOMONDO International Trade Fair of Rimini was an occasion to introduce the “Città a mobilità Elettrica” project, which is organised under a partnership of the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Economic Development, Region Emilia-Romagna, Province of Modena, 21 municipalities (participating in the Covenant of Mayors), the Sustainable Development and Energy Agency of the Province of Modena, and DUCATI energia S.p.A.

The project aims to promote and develop urban infrastructures for recharging electric vehicles in order to preserve human health while reducing polluting emissions and tackling global warming. DUCATI enrgia S.p.A. will provide the Municipalities with 60 four-wheel electric vehicles (FREE DUCK), 120 innovative electric bicycles (GREEN WHEEL) and 120 recharging stations.

The Municipalities will set a good example by using these vehicles for their working needs. They will also be in charge of promoting these innovations by boosting collective buying groups, implementing information campaigns (addressed to the public and the industrial and trade sectors) and organising eco-days. "The strategic aim of the project,” says Stefano Vaccari, Province councillor for Environment, “is to start an authentic ‘electric revolution’ with Municipalities and Mayors at the frontline to trigger a virtual circle for an alternative and zero impact urban mobility.”
