With the support of the Belgian Road Safety Institute, the producer of glasses, Pearl, is conducting a campaign on the Belgian roads that advises car drivers to have their eyes checked once a year.

Advertisements have been posted on the back of 210 trucks that travel around the country. In blurry letters they say: “Don’t forget, have your eyes checked every year.”

European research has shown that 1 in 8 car drivers’ sight is not sufficient to drive safely. Usually, one’s sight deteriorates very gradually and so at first people do not always realise that they have a problem. A sight test can easily determine if someone still meets the requirements for driving safely.
